Hunting suits in the test – Repo Extreme Naruska winter suit

Ivalo, Lapland

Frosty morning in Ivalo, the meter shows about ten degrees below zero. The day before, we discussed with a friend if we should go to the bird forest the next morning. The snow has already fallen on the ground, the intervening plus winds have made the snow a loud and sharp-edged crust. Consequently, I didn't feel like running the dogs and even sneaking after the birds seemed like a pretty desperate option. A tea pass was chosen as the type of yacht.

Naruska hunting suit in the test

Freezing weather places tough demands on such a feral cat for poking around in place. Of course, sitting still is also its own challenge. The snow camo suit, which you can find in the closet in freezing weather, makes the job easier.Naruska from Repo Extreme. I've had the suit for two previous winters, so I knew what needed to be added underneath. When hunting on the move, the suit is fine with one or two intermediate layers even in temperatures above twenty degrees below zero, but for passport work I added a sweater to the backpack. The surface material of the suit is quiet, brushed Deerskin SPX fabric, so being silent is completely possible, as long as the requester's mouth remains closed.

It was barely a couple of kilometers from the car to the passport office. Of course, we were a little late on the move and the day had already dawned. When walking after the middle of the journey, we could see how a large flock of teers was flying towards us from the left. We stopped and looked at what was happening and where the birds were turning. Most of the first flock flew straight over, a few of the smaller flock that came after got stuck in the trees right in front of our noses. I had a rifle in my backpack and a shotgun in a sling on my shoulder unloaded, I didn't even dare to try. The guy already had a shotgun in his hands and he quietly got the gun loaded and dropped into the battery!

Delighted with the first success of the day, we continued our journey to the passport office on the side of the gang. We stayed under the trees to add more clothes for transit and put the weapons in readiness. The bubbling of the teals could be heard from all around and we started to look around to see if we could see teals in the tops. "Katoppa, is it over there at the top?" the guy winked and I then took a look at it. After all, there was a thunderstorm there, a distance of about 140 meters. Should we try to get closer? Not in this weather, terrible noise. All you have to do is put on your stomach, a backpack for support and aim. Apparently the off-roading was successful, the tree allowed me to scope and slow down for a long time. I held my breath and squeezed. Teeri jumped into flight and flew away looking healthy. So the shot fell short and it was a pity, apprenticeships.

We went back to the transit stations. Teeret was still making noise in the background, but they didn't appear in the pass hall anymore. However, it was decided to go for a walk in the direction where the previous large flock of teal was heading. The sweater could be taken off for less, it wasn't cold. The suit is extremely comfortable even when moving, it's elastic in the right places and it's soft to wear.

Birds were no longer caught in the binoculars for that trip, tar fires were made and we talked about the bad weather.

My experiences with the Naruska winter suit

When hunting here in the north, I have definitely liked wearing a padded snow camo suit. Naruska's stuffing is Primaloft, which is very insulating but still light. The snow often starts already in early October, so the season of use for the suit at these altitudes is long. Not to mention the top flight in January, which this suit is made for.

The suit is unisex in design, but as a tall woman, it suits me perfectly. In a jackethas tightening on both the waist and hips, so you can adjust the fit if you want.In pantsthere is also tightening/adjustment at the waist and legs. The model is flexible, layers can fit underneath if necessary. I haven't experienced the suit being too hot when moving around in freezing weather, and if necessary, the suit has vents in both the jacket and pants. The suit has a film laminated to the outer fabric to protect the suit from wind and water. Of course, in these Lapland winters, I haven't really had to do anything in the water, but the wind has stayed outside. Some snow sticks to the fabric, but the suit has not gotten wet in my use, even the melted snow remains on the outer surface and the suit does not absorb moisture.

OverallNaruska winter dresshas been a top choice for the snowy and cold conditions of the North.
