It is worth investing in a hunting jacket

A high-quality hunting jacket will withstand hard use for years. The best hunting jackets fit comfortably, adapt to the needs of the forest folk and keep the hunter happy even in bad weather.

How to choose a hunting jacket

Choosing the right kind of jacket is a bit of a matter of taste and style, but the first thing you should do is go through what kind of conditions the jacket is intended to be worn outside.

Most of the hunting season is focused on autumn and winter. The hunting jacket must be warmer than a regular outdoor shell jacket, so that at least you don't have to take off your pass early because of the cold.

For example, the Alpha G2 and Karelia jackets are designed especially for late autumn hunting, and they will do well in the forest until the beginning of winter.

The technical membrane structure of these jackets keeps the rain out, but breathes away the moisture that evaporates from the skin. If you sweat a lot while carrying your prey, you can always open the ventilation openings in the armpits and ventilate the excess vapors out through them.

The Naruska hunting jacket with a snow camo pattern and Primaloft Silver lining is the right choice for harsher frosts and snowy forest landscapes.

The rope is warm, breathable, light and very pleasant to use even on a moving yacht.

On the other hand, the best choice for the early season and mobile yachts is the membrane-free, cotton Tokka hunting jacket .

Tokka is a pleasant choice especially for hunters who appreciate the airiness of the garment.

Membrane or non-membrane hunting jacket?

If the weather is sure to be dusty or the base is close to hunting grounds, you can do well with a jacket without a membrane. It is also great when there is a lot of sweaty exercise involved.

The choice that keeps you dry the most for fluctuating weather conditions is a membrane jacket. It also works excellently in the morning dewy forest, where even a single drop of water falls on the neck from the branches when walking.

What is a membrane hunting jacket like?

The membrane's pore structure does not let large water drops in, but lets sweat vapors out. In a moving yacht, it's good to have ventilation openings in the jacket, which should be opened with a brisk transition cloth - or if you're known to sweat more.

All Alpha G2 jackets is equipped with a very high-quality Japanese Toray Dermizax® membrane, whose waterproof and breathability values are promised to be at least 20,000 mm / 20,000 g/m2/24h.

This means that heavy rain and wet snow stay outside the jacket, but the fabric still breathes sweat effectively.

The reversible Karelia hunting jackets, on the other hand, are made of microfleece with a laminated membrane between the layers. The waterproof and breathability values of the Karelia membrane are 15,000 mm / 10,000 g/m2/24h.

Karelia also needs to keep the hunter dry even in heavy rain.

When should you choose a membrane-free jacket?

A completely membrane-free jacket is a pleasant alternative for the warm early season and mobile hunting, when you don't necessarily plan to spend the whole day in the forest. Made of solid cotton The Tokka hunting jacket is light, airy and very pleasant to wear! It is also a great multi-functional jacket for all everyday use.

DRW treatment protects against dirt and water

All Repo jackets have received a DWR (Durable Water Resistant) treatment on the surface fabric, which makes the fabric better water and dirt repellent.

Thanks to the DWR treatment, water does not soak directly into the surface of the fabric, but bubbles away from it. In this case, membrane hunting jackets also retain their breathability better.

A jacket is only as durable as its weakest part

Even for hunting, the fabrics, zippers and seams must be of such high quality that the jacket can withstand years, even decades, of use.

We have noticed that especially Finnish hunters don't change their clothes just for fun. Over time, they can also become so important to their users that wear and tear or breakage are truly annoying even years from now.

This is what we have thought about when we have chosen materials for Repo clothes. The goal is for the jacket to withstand the life of a forest dweller, sometimes a tough one.

The best hunting jacket does not expose the hunter to the game

Coloring and patterning for hunting too

A good hunting jacket's coloring or pattern helps the hunter to blend in effectively with the terrain, so that the prey does not detect the hunter too early.

The Alpha G2 hunting jacket is available in two different designs: Repo's own with xFade digicamo pattern and with an acquaintance from the Defense Forces With M05 camo pattern .

You can find reversible Karelia hunting jackets in plain green Forest Green in color as well In the Dark xFade digicamo pattern , both of which are suitable for the autumn forest landscape. The lining fabric of the jacket is orange, so by turning it over, you get an eye jacket.

What do you need to know about the attention color?

In accordance with the requirements of the Hunting Act, the hunting jacket used in the elk and deer forest must have orange or orange-red color on at least 2/3 of the visible surface area of the garment and also the headgear.

The lining of the reversible Karelia hunting jackets is orange, Repo's own Orange xFade pattern. It blurs the hunter's silhouette from the prey, but stands out clearly to other hunters thanks to its color.

You can also wear an orange Halla hunting vest over any jacket for a group hunt.

A good hunting jacket is silent

A well-designed hunting jacket is comfortable to wear and does not rustle or hiss. We have chosen the fabric materials of the Repo hunting jackets in such a way that almost completely silent movement is possible.

Soundlessness has been achieved by processing the surface material of the fabric, such as brushing.

Hunting jackets for women

Don't freak out about jacket sizing! Although our hunting jackets use men's sizing, many of them also fit a female hunter perfectly.

We have received good feedback from women, for example, about the warm Naruska jacket and the Alpha G2 and Tokka series jackets.

You should carefully compare your size with the product's size chart in order to get a jacket that fits as comfortably as possible. The right of return in the online store is 30 days, so if, despite the calculations, the jacket is the wrong size or model for your body, you can send it back free of postage.

Repo hunting jackets - how to choose the right size:

  1. On each product page, you will find the section SIZE GUIDE, where the dimensions of the product are recorded.
  2. When choosing a jacket, important measurements are especially the waist measurement and the hem and sleeve length. For people with broad shoulders, it is good to model their shoulder width carefully, so that the jacket does not tighten unnecessarily.
  3. The measurements in the size chart are taken from the top of the garment so that it is spread out flat. This way you can compare the size with e.g. your clothes found at home.
  4. You can also get the approximate circumference of the garment by multiplying the waist measurement by two. Example: In size L, the waist circumference is obtained as follows: 50.5 cm x 2 = 101 cm

FAQ

These things make most people suspicious for one reason or another! However, don't hesitate to email or call us if you can't find what you're looking for - see contact information here!

Can I order a jacket and pants in different sizes?

Yes, you can also order a jacket and trousers in different sizes. In that case, place a suit order by adding the jacket from your own jackets category and the trousers from their own category. No problem – the total price remains the same as for the suit set!

How do I know which size is right for me?

Our clothing uses standard Finnish sizing. However, we recommend that you always check the correct size by clicking the "size guide" button next to each product.

How do I know if my clothes are waterproof?

You can find more detailed information about the materials of our clothing in the technical data section of the product information. However, as an assumption, waterproof clothing must have both a membrane and taped seams and also, for example, weatherproof zippers. The membrane alone does not necessarily guarantee that the product is waterproof. Membrane clothing with taped seams keeps water out up to the given water column ratings, but it is also good to note that the membrane is not completely tight like in traditional rainwear. Therefore, membrane clothing can also let water through, especially when exposed to high pressure for a longer period of time.

What is DWR treatment?

DWR (Durable Water Resistant) is a treatment applied to the surface of a garment that makes it water and dirt repellent. The DWR treatment wears off over time and with washing, for example, after which it is a good idea to re-saturate the garment. You will notice the DWR treatment weakening when water no longer drips on the surface of the garment, but the fabric immediately absorbs the water.
