A hunting suit for winter use - at least take these into account

REPO

Although autumn is generally perceived as the hottest hunting season, there are also several species whose hunting is focused specifically on the winter season. For example, hare, beaver and deer hunts, as well as cross-country skiing in the north, are also popular in winter.

Please remember to check the hunting times for each game species by region, for example from here before heading to the forest.

What kind of hunting suit is suitable for winter hunting?

Winter hunting requires different skills and preparation from the hunter than hunting in other seasons. The conditions in winter are challenging and changeable, and the hunter must be prepared for all of them - that's why the hunting suit must also meet many different requirements in winter use.

A good winter hunting suit and its main features:

1. Weather resistance

The technical characteristics of a hunting suit can mean many different things, but the most essential thing in a winter hunting suit is definitely its weather resistance. The suit should be warm enough, waterproof and windproof, but also breathable, so that you don't feel cramped even when moving.

So choose a winter hunting suit with high-quality padding - warm enough but breathable. For example, Repo Extreme's Naruska lumicamo uses high-quality fabricPrimaloft® Silver padding. Snowy conditions can easily change to watery conditions, in which case a membrane suit is the safest choice. Of course, a film-free garment is suitable for the harshest frosts, but the windproofness of the suit should also be taken into account, because the wind can be biting in winter.

2. Coloring and camo patterning

When hunting, it is almost always a good idea to try to blend in with the environment, in which case the suit's coloring and possible camo patterning become key. In winter, a snowsuit is the surest choice, but in areas with little snow, for exampleM05 Frost textureis well suited.

A functional lumicamo pattern usually combines different shades of dark grey, brown and green with natural white. Effective snow patterning is actually almost imperceptible in a winter forest landscape - see the Repo Extreme example belowFrom Arctic xFade™ patterning:

3.Silence

Hearing is one of the most accurate and important senses of most prey animals, and therefore the hunter should be able to move towards the target as silently as possible. While the hunter wants to avoid noises that can scare the prey, the suit also needs to avoid excessive rustling.

So choose a winter suit whose surface material is as quiet as possible. Hunting suits often use, for example, surface-brushed fabric, which feels soft and doesn't rustle too much.

4. Mobility and comfort

Pay attention to the comfort and mobility of the winter hunting suit, so that the hunt is pleasant in all situations. The right type of hunting suit gives enough room for movement and fits well. The pants of Repo's Naruska snowsuit are, for example, equipped with flexible stretch panels that give enough freedom to move.

Also make sure that there is enough space under the winter suit, because layering is extremely important, especially in winter.

5. Quality and durability

It goes without saying that it is worth investing in quality. A high-quality winter hunting suit lasts for several years and retains its properties for a long time. However, you should also remember that technical clothing needs care and attention to function as well as possible. So follow the washing instructions and others, for examplecare instructions for membrane clothing!

Naruska lumicamo is Repo Extreme's answer to the challenges of winter hunting - this advanced snow suit is versatile for different types of hunting, from pass to top birding!Read Riista's article about the skier's snow suit here.

Naruska combines all the features you need from a snowsuit, from warm padding to versatile pocket solutions.

Thermal insulation is taken care of by the advanced Primaloft® Silver padding, which, in addition to its warmth, is very light and breathable. The filling in itself also repels moisture, but its heat insulating ability remains excellent even when wet.

The soft, quiet surface fabric is a brushed fabric that looks a bit like suede. The silent fabric allows you to approach the prey without scaring it. In addition to silence, the surface fabric's properties include wear resistance, but the areas most exposed to wear are reinforced. In the pants, the leg mouths are reinforced with Cordura, while the shoulders and elbows of the jacket are made of durable PU leather.

The surface fabric has a laminated film, which makes the surface fabric wind and waterproof. There are no taped seams in the snow suit, which also improves the breathability of the suit even further, together with the ventilation holes found in both the jacket and the pants.

The Arctic xFade lumicamo patterning used in the hunting winter suit Naruska is effective in camouflaging the hunter against the surrounding, snowy terrain. In addition, the Naruska jacket also has an integrated camouflage hood, which completes the camouflage when it is necessary.

Naruska fits well on many different body types. In its design, the mobility and comfort required of the suit have been taken into account, for example, with the stretch panels of the trousers. The panels are located on the knees and buttocks, so that the pants follow your movements and hunting would be pleasant in all situations.
